For the classic fried scampi, first gut the shrimp. To do this, carefully cut along the back of the body with a sharp knife.
The intestines are black and easy to see. Pull it out carefully. Heat a heavy pan, add olive oil, garlic and thyme.
Fry the scampi in the hot oil for 6-8 minutes, depending on size. Season with salt and pepper and serve hot.
Preparation Tip:
It goes well with salad, ciabatta and sauces. Instead of pan-frying, the scampi can also be grilled. Then during grilling possibly brush with garlic oil.
