A great cake recipe for any occasion:
Beat vanilla sugar, egg yolks, sugar and rum until creamy. Add the stiffly beaten egg whites. Mix the remaining ingredients together and fold in.
Pour into a springform pan lined with baking paper and bake in a heated oven for about 70 minutes on the lowest shelf at 180 degrees C. Turn out onto a cake rack.
Turn out onto a cooling rack and cool.
Heat the ingredients for soaking together and let stand for 10 min. Pierce the cake with a toothpick not too deep and soak with the red wine mixture. Leave to infuse for a few hours.
Later cover with the glaze, decorate with cream rosettes and the cherries.
