To make the sweet potatoes with pecans, first soak the dried fruit (chopped small if desired) in the alcohol of your choice.
Boil the sweet potatoes for about a quarter of an hour. Then peel and cut into not too thin slices.
Preheat the oven to 180 °C top/bottom heat or 160 °C hot air. Grease an ovenproof dish.
Caramelize sugar with butter, add orange juice and zest, dried fruit including liquid and cinnamon and let simmer.
Arrange the sweet potato slices in the mold. Always put the caramelized fruits in between. Sprinkle the pecans on top. Put the sweet potatoes with pecans in the oven for about half an hour.
Serve sweet potatoes with pecans as a side dish at Christmas or Thanksgiving.
